Sale Medical Centre provides women’s health care for patients in Sale and the surrounding area, including contraception and family planning, menopause and perimenopause support, and care before, during and after pregnancy.
Our GPs and nursing team can also help with a range of other women’s health concerns. Some services and procedures require a particular practitioner or appointment type/length, so if you are unsure when booking online, please call our reception for assistance.

Contraception and Family Planning
If you are considering contraception, want to change your current method or have questions about family planning, you can discuss your options with a GP at Sale Medical Centre.
This may include choosing a contraceptive method, changing from one method to another, concerns about your current contraception or planning ahead for pregnancy.
Your GP can talk through the options that may suit your health needs and preferences and explain what is involved if a procedure or follow-up appointment is required.
IUD Consultations, Insertion and Removal
Sale Medical Centre provides IUD consultations, insertions and removals.
If you are considering an intrauterine device (IUD), an initial consultation gives you the opportunity to ask questions, discuss whether an IUD may be suitable for you and understand what is involved in insertion.
Menopause Care
Menopause and Perimenopause Support
Perimenopause and menopause can affect people in different ways, and symptoms may change over time.
A menopause or perimenopause consultation can help you understand the changes you are experiencing and discuss ways they may be managed. It is also an opportunity to raise other health concerns that become relevant during and after menopause.
You can speak with a GP at Sale Medical Centre about changes such as:
- Irregular periods
- Hot Flushes
- Difficulty Sleeping
- Mood changes
- Other symptoms that may be associated with the menopausal transition.

If you are planning to become pregnant, you can speak with your GP about preparing for pregnancy, including your general health, existing medical conditions, medications and any questions you may have before trying to conceive.

Your GP can continue to provide general medical care during pregnancy and assist with health concerns that arise along the way. Where additional or specialist care is needed, your GP can help coordinate the appropriate referral.
